Go Green!

Growing up, that statement brought many things to mind- downtown East Lansing, Sparty, football games to name a few. But these days it has a whole new meaning.

She even has John Deere "pretties"! My how things change :)

We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo

Yesterday, Emma and I were able to head to Lansing for a "Girl's Day" with my mom and Grandma. We went out to lunch, took a trip to Potter Park Zoo and had some ice cream before we called it a day. Miss Emma is an animal fanatic so the zoo was the perfect place for her. As an added bonus, the zoo was free for the day (staff was sent home early due to the impending storms, but they held off for a bit which gave us plenty of time to walk around). The zoo was pretty empty, so Emma was able to run free and she loved it!

All ready to take on the zoo (the stroller and the sunglasses didn't last long :)

My "ferocious" little lion- don't let the cute face fool you!

Walking with Grandma

Checking out the all the meerkats.

Trying to get a close up of the animals. She wanted to pet and hug them all!

Watching the penguins with Grandma and Great Grandma. We all wanted to cool off with them!

Emma didn't really understand the idea of measuring her wing span.

Taking in the camels (and praying we don't get spit on :)

It was a very busy, fun day. We certainly don't get the opportunity enough. Thank you to my mom and grandma for taking the time to hang with your girls. We loved it and hope we can do it again soon! Now I just have to get that dumb song out of my head.... thanks mom!

Happy Father's Day

For Father's Day, I told Jason we could do anything he wanted. While we were discussing it late Saturday evening, he decided that it would be fun to head up to Silver Lake for the day. So we went to the early service at church in the morning then packed up and hit the road headed north on Sunday. The weather was beautiful, the park wasn't busy and a great time was had by all.

Emma giving us a "thumbs up" before we headed into the dunes :) She didn't enjoy the bumping along in the Jeep as much this year. I think it's due to the fact that she faces away from us now in her car seat and she is also a little more cautious and aware of her surroundings now. Overall she did awesome though.

It was a lot of fun watching other people do some not-so smart maneuvers. This guy broke a few things by the end of the day! We stuck to a more mild ride.

After riding around for a while we took a snack break down by the beach. Emma loves playing in the sand. Jason and I dug a tunnel in the sand and Emma had fun crawling in the holes and exploring.

It was a wonderful day spent together with our little family of three. We hope Jason (and all the other dads and grandpas out there) enjoyed their day. Thank you to my hubby, who is a fabulous father- we love you!

First Camping Trip of the Season

Okay, so we may have been home now for a week from our first trip, but it has taken me that long to catch up on laundry, clean up the camper and get acclimated to being home again.

Emma loved the park and the ginormous slide to boot, but it did make for one nervous mommy.

We spent some time huddled under awnings trying to stay dry and entertain the antsy kiddos.

Every night we hung out by the campfire and filled up on goodies.

Emma loved the water and we spent plenty of time pool-side.

Lots of time outdoors makes for one sleepy kiddo (mom may have taken a nap or two as well :)

She certainly didn't sit still while she was awake!

Emma got to spend lots of time with Daddy as well, which was wonderful for them both.

When it wasn't raining, someone still managed to find water to play in.

She looks like such a little grown-up in this pic- scary!

It was so awesome to see all the kids play so well together. They had a blast. We had tons of fun with family and friends and can't wait to head out again in July!
