Bed Head

Talk about a rat's nest... a bath and lots of conditioner is the only way to fix this mess!

Dancing with Angels

Let me just say it has been a long hard week. I oftened thought of the Dr. Suess saying, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". Family gathered together for days to cry, laugh and share memories of my dear aunt Lydia. She was my aunt and another 'mom' figure in my life as well. My cousin Lindsey, her oldest daughter, has always been like a little sister to me. Needless to say there are many stories I could share from over the years. The band Peter, Paul and Mary will always remind me of her.

I have had a lot of time to reflect on life and those we have loved and lost. Some, like my great grandma Burtraw, were able to be with us for many many years. Others, like my close friend and sister by choice Jamie, are only granted a short time here with us. At times we know a person's journey is coming to an end and then there are others that are taken away so suddenly not only is there loss and sorrow, but shock as well. This was the case for my step-mom Cindy and my aunt.

The following lyrics are from a song that was chosen to play at my aunt's funeral. It speaks of sadness and loss, but hope and joy as well. Even though there are some who have gone before us and it hurts that they are gone, followes of Jesus have the reassurance that they are dancing with angels until the day we are reunited with them.

Memories surround me
But sadness has found me
I'd do anything for more time
Never before has someone meant more
And I can't get you out of my mind
There is so much that I don't understand
But I know

You're dancing with the angels
Walking in new life
You're dancing with the angels
Heaven fills your eyes
Now that you're dancing with the angels

You've had love for your family
Love for all people
Love for the Father, the Son
Your heart will be heard
In your unspoken words
Through generations to come
There is so much that I don't understand
But I know

You're dancing with the angels
Walking in new life
You're dancing with the angels

Now that you're dancing with the angels

We're only here for a short time
So I'm gonna stand up
Shout out
And sing hallelujah
One day I'll see you again

It all brings life into perspective for me. I am reminded that tomorrow is no guarantee. Only God knows how many days are left in our book, so we shouldn't take a single one for granted. Easier to say than do. There's always something on the horizon, a place we are trying to get to. Yet we must remember that the present is a precious gift from God. So live a full day today and remember to tell the ones you love what they mean to you. Try to live life with no regrets. And rest in the knowledge that if you believe in Him you will see your loved ones again someday.

"The memory of a good person is a blessing". Proverb 10:7

Gone in the Blink of an Eye

Live life to the fullest everyday and don't forget to tell the people who are dear to your heart ♥ that you love them each and everyday because life is to short. You can be here today and gone tomorrow.

In loving memory of my aunt Lydia who recently celebrated her 50th...

You were a beautiful light in this world. Your love for your family and others was obvious, always smiling and making us laugh. I'll forever remember your beautiful voice singing us to sleep when we were kids. We know you are up there singing with the heavenly choir. Today you are greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Stuck Inside

While I fully understand that I should be using my time snowed in for practical purposes, I have been struggling. I would much rather play with my little one, cuddle up with a good book or watch tv. In an essence, be lazy. Since Emma and I haven't left the four walls of our house since Monday morning to go grocery shopping and a quick trip to Katie's house on Tuesday night for a hair cut we've been going a little stir crazy. I think we were both really looking forward to attending MOPs this morning only to have it cancelled. Here's a few pics of what we have been doing to keep us busy!

We had to go play in the snow of course! Emma loved it and spent a good half hour outside before she decided she was cold. The snow was almost up to her shoulders here and she is still not even standing directly on the ground.

Standing by the huge pile of snow near our door. She loved to do belly flops into the snow, much like she does in the swimming pool :)

We also built a fort that she played in for over an hour until she "accidentally" knocked it down.

Thanks to Kim, we stole this idea and it was a huge success! I brought in a few tubs full of snow and filled the kitchen sink. We went through two pairs of gloves in an hour, but she had a blast.

Now I am running out of ideas... praying for school tomorrow! No hard feelings to all my teacher pals, but we need to get out of the house. We are supposed to have A and G- Emma needs some playmates her own age for a change!

Winter Day Fun

With all the cold weather we've been having, things can get a little s-l-o-w at our house. Miss Emmabuns and I are often stuck inside going crazy. I am often looking for fun and creative things for us to do. Today we painted. Not with just any paint- cool whip paint! Emma loved it :)
She started off a bit hesitant....

but it didn't take long for her to really dig in.

Or to discover that her paint tasted pretty good.

She was a bit messy when all was said and done, but she loved it!
