Feeling Like a Vegabond

We have been non-stop on the move for almost two weeks now! While we had a ton of fun and made lots of memories, it's always nice to sleep in your own bed again.

First we made our maiden voyage camping trip for the year. I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive about it all, having a relative newbie and all, but it went great!
My lil' dirt nugget

Easton is much like his daddy in that he loves the great outdoors. He spent lots of time taking in all the new sights and sounds around him. Since he was the only baby in the group he got his fair share of attention too.

Lots of hours outside equals a filthy, sleepy boy!
 Dirty little piggys!
Crashed out for nap time
The kids had a blast going from camper to camper (there were four families total- 8 adults and 10 kiddos), park to pool and back to the park.
 Pool bound
 My bathing beauty
Playing ball at the park
Jason brought along his RC car again, which is always a big hit. He used our dining room table to jump over little bodies and a wagon to give the kids rides.
Excitement builds as the truck fires up
 Air borne
Maxer taking a ride

Emma had a rough time most mornings due to busy days with no naps. One particular morning she had a meltdown because she felt her hair was 'crazy'.

It resulted in a large quantity of hair being pulled out after I placed her in her bunk to cool down. There are now a few thin spots- can't wait to see what it will look like as it grows back!

We decided to all go out to eat one night for a change of scenery. Okay, maybe it was more of a break for the mommas. It was quite the experience. They had set it up with one table for adults and one for the kids. Did I mention that the oldest kid in the group is 6?!? I'm sure we left an impression on the wait staff as well as fellow diners, but it was wildly entertaining and nice to not have to cook or clean up afterwards. Only one of the kids ran around on top of the table :)

The trip was capped off with a celebration of my 28th birthday. I woke up to my dear friend Lynds singing at the camper door with a hot cup of coffee in hand. She also did a fab job decorating the camper while we were at the pool.

My mom, step-dad and the boys joined us in the afternoon to spend time swimming in the pool and hanging out at the campground. We finished off the day with a large cake and sugar comas for all. Emma was allowed to stay up a little later too since it was our last night.

We came home Friday to unpack, do laundry and hit the road again. Our next destination was my grandma and grandpa's house. I didn't get a single picture of our weekend, but we spent lots of time hanging with family and enjoying the lake.

Daddy Adoration

Happy Father's day to all the fabulous daddies out there! I have been blessed with an awesome father myself and a spectacular father for my little ones. My peanuts are blessed to have a grandpa who loves them very much and is involved in their lives. It's wonderful to see my hubby interact with the kiddos too- they love daddy time!

We hoped to spend the day partaking in festivities that the man of the house would enjoy, but he was feeling a little under the weather so we kept it pretty low key. We hung out at home for most of the day. Per his request we did end the day with a trip to Sandy Pines for a golf cart ride and a trip to the ice cream store :)

I hope everyone had a great Father's day. Thank you to all the guys in our life who love and support us and provide Godly examples for my munchkins!

Story Time

I just finished The Fiddler by Beverly Lewis and I loved it! I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that this book takes place in today's culture. For some reason I assumed that this took place 'back in the day'...

Amelia is a 24 year old violinist who has been playing her entire life. While stuck between pleasing her parents and finding her true passion in life, she takes a detour one night and stumbles upon Hickery Hollow and a young Amish man who entrances her. She begins to question the path her life is taken- her career and her current relationship with a fellow musician.

Leaving everything behind, Amelia joins Michael for a break from all the pressure that she feels is closing in around her to live among his community for a few days. She discovers that she shares a common bond with him- they are both struggling to meet the expectations of others' while trying to find their own joy in life. I feel like it's a story we can all relate to!

I also love reading about Amish life, there is something that enchants me. :Like Amelia, I would love to spend a few days enveloped in the community to take a breather from our 'fancy' ways. Both characters were well developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. I can't wait for the next book in the series, due to come out some time in September.

Thanks to Bethany House publishers who sent me a free copy of The Fiddler by Beverly Lewis. It is not required that I give a positive review, but to express my own opinions of this book.

Fizzy Fun

Found this idea on Pintrest- so simple, yet extremely entertaining for the little people. All you really need is baking soda and vinegar. I added food coloring to the vinegar at first, but the kids went through it so fast they were using unaltered stuff towards the end. It didn't seem to bother them one bit :)

Yes, the booger suckers were all brand new, fresh out of the package... The kept this up until I had to call them away for lunch. It lasted a good 30 minutes. I thought it might be fun to try it outside on the driveway next time. Dump the baking soda right on the ground and let them go.

Four Months

You are four months old now lil' man! It seems like the days fly by so much faster than they did with your sister, probably because life is so much busier. I wish we could slow down time to enjoy each moment with you even more.

*Four month picture still on camera*

At your four month appointment you weighed in just under 14 lbs in the 16%. You are 63% for height- I'm sure you're going to be long and lean like your daddy.

You have become so much more alert and responsive these days. You are full of smiles and will even giggle if we catch you in the right mood.

Grandma Jen and I took you and your sister to your first parade during Tulip Time, but you apparently weren't too impressed. You slept right through it!

This year the tulips were lacking due to unseasonable temperatures a few week prior to the big festival. Many referred to it as the 'Stem Fest' of 2012 instead of Tulip Time. Sadly, we didn't get any pictures with the tulips, but I did get a few cute shots of you guys sans the flowers.

You're getting so big sweet boy, we love you!
